The gang decides this is it: Erica will use her dinner invite to get into Anna’s private quarters and kill the soldier eggs with a nifty explosive devised by Hobbes. Hobbes will distract Marcus. They contact Joshua who likes the plan but is cut off before it can be finalized. Father Jack says he’ll send a message to him via Chad. Ryan is planning on going to help too until he receives word of Val’s abduction.

In a dark alley a dumpster diver finds Lisa’s broken body. Erica and Malick investigate, she is surprised to see its Lisa. Malick asks if Tyler knows she’s a V. Erica says she doesn’t know. Erica goes to her and says she’ll find out who did this to her: they also carved a”V” into her face. Erica asks if she recognized the “men” who hurt her. She flashes back to her mom hitting her and says no. Erica hugs her and says it’s going to be okay.

Anna watches this from the ship and says it’s time for Joshua to go down to the healing center to fix Lisa’s legs but not her face. She says she wants the world to see what the Fifth Column has done to her daughter since a picture’s worth a thousand words.

Hobbes blows out with an RPG a V’s shuttle after getting some tips about the it’s content but in the end everything is getting messed up. Great episode, i love this show!

Aliens, generally, are just a way to confront the things that scare us most about ourselves. Because we really don’t have any idea of just what a culture that evolved on another planet where we have no idea of the physical properties of the world would be like, we end up creating cultures that are roughly like cultures we’ve known on our own planet. There are a million alien Nazi rip-offs out there, and there are just as many cultures where there are two kinds of aliens, and the one kind of aliens picks on the others, and it’s ALL ABOUT RACISM, SEE? The aliens in the original “V” were pretty handy Nazi metaphors, and that thorough grounding in the world of the French resistance in World War II made the whole thing work (to say nothing of the gerbil devouring).

We find out who John May was and some history from about 10 years ago.

The Fifth Column have begun to attack the Visitors’ ships with suicide bombs. Anna discovers that the members the renegade group are immune to Bliss and are developing human-like emotions instead. Therefore, the easiest way to root out the rebels is to show them images of devastation and see how they react.

I’m not sure if I liked this episode or not. I loved the hint towards the whole mouse-eating thing from the original series. I also loved that Anna ate her mate as well. Interesting twist. The rest seemed a little too contrived for me. I still think that if Morris Chestnut wasn’t on the show, it would not be nearly as good. And I also think, and it pains me to say it, that Tyler was not as irritating as he was in the first four episodes. Is it just me? He didn’t detract from the story as much as he did before. So I have to give kudos when kudos are due. Nice job, Logan, but you still have a long way to go.

Erica works with newly-formed allies to uncover a biological threat they suspect the Visitors have been plotting. Aboard the Mothership, Anna meets with a special guest while managing the investigation into the murder of a V. And Chad does a segment on the V Healing Centers, demonstrating their amazing medical abilities, but then finds himself conflicted by some of his findings.

Chad reports from the Peace Ambassador Center as 100 diplomatic visas are being issued to the first wave of American Visitors, with Anna getting the 1st, but not everyone agrees with the decision. Meanwhile Erica has started tracking a death threat while paired with a V officer, as she actually has to protect the V’s, and Ryan starts reaching out to his old friends to build up opposition forces and help fight-off the V’s.

Erica and Father Jack, having quickly determined they’re both against the arrival of the Visitors, suddenly find themselves being tracked by a “Seeker” from the V’s. Meanwhile Chad, thinking he blew it for 80 million viewers with his exclusive first interview with Anna, looks to pick himself up and becomes more investigative in his next newscast.

The beginning reminded me of the film Independence Day but instead of Will Smith it was Elizabeth Mitchell as Erica Evans. Other characters were introduced but some profiles are such clichés that it felt like watching a twenty years old production at times. Erica is a FBI agent, she’s divorced, her teenage son is rebelling, the Father questioning his believes… But others are more interesting. First there’s Ryan Nichols played by Morris Chestnut. I found the actor’s performance quite convincing and his profile was intriguing. I wasn’t thrilled by Morena Baccarin as Anna even if I think she has potential. I’m sure she’ll grow on us in the upcoming episodes. Moreover at first I found her eyes twitching a bit awkward but I quickly realized it helped us see the reptile behind the attractive flesh mask. Last but not least the news reporter could have been better because his profile was predictable and poorly scripted. It’s the writer’s fault because the way he was mind controlled was just lazy. I thought Anna would use some sort of charming voice like in Frank Herbert’s Dune but instead she only convinced him with words. I found the idea wasn’t creative at all, specially for a sci-fi production. The Visitors can travel at the speed of light but they use old lines like some politicians. However their respective story arcs could get more interesting if the writers focus on linking them, developing character connections in original and twisted directions.
